MiiR is known for its clean water initiatives, and is also committed to supporting healthy environments and fostering strong communities. In the spring of 2018, MiiR gave $35,000 to fund a new well and irrigation system at Viva Farms’ Agricultural Park in Skagit County, which created water access for 45 acres of land capable of supporting up to eight farm businesses per year for 25+ years. Both serve as an educational resource for intermediate farmers and other farm businesses through on-site workshops and ongoing technical assistance to ensure the next generation of farmers has the access and knowledge to use water wisely. For this project we documented the farmers stories, and explored how clean water was helpful in their farmer incubator business model.
